“Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass.”
Anton Chekhov, playwright
As a produced writer/director with multiple commercially financed and released feature films, I offer independent filmmakers tailored advice on how to shape projects to attract producers, financiers, sales agents, and distributors through my script and packaging consultancy service.
I have experience with both micro-budget films (under $1 million), low-budget films ($1–5 million) and whilst my film A Patriot, starring and executive produced by Eva Green, was never released, it closed with a $10 million budget in 2018, including a $1 million UK pre-sale to Sky Cinema. This process provided me with valuable insight into packaging films at a mid-tier level.
Where are the industry mentors?
When I first started out in independent film, getting a feature financed and into production felt like an unsolvable mystery. The mechanics of film finance were (and often still are) shrouded in complexity. It wasn’t until I successfully navigated the process with my first feature that I understood how to transform a script into a commercially appealing package capable of attracting both a sales agent and financiers, leading to production and eventual release.
Looking back on those early days, I often think, “If only we were taught how independent films go from script to screen at film school” or “If only someone with knowledge of the financing process had mentored us.” That’s why I created this service: to share the tools and advice I wish I’d had during those pivotal moments in my career.
How does it work?
Whilst I do provide development notes where relevant, my primary focus is on helping you calibrate your project to attract the partners necessary for it to get made. There are many excellent script consultancy services that offer detailed input on story, structure, and character development, however, my aim is to align your project with the expectations of key stakeholders in the ever-changing independent film market.
How do I hire you?
Simply send me your feature script along with any supporting materials you’ve already produced (e.g., pitch deck, sizzle reel, sales pack). I will review everything and arrange a Zoom call to provide live feedback and discuss your project.
Upon receipt of the consultation fee, I will aim to turn a review around with fourteen days depending on capacity. I charge £150 per feature project and this can be paid via my PayPal wallet with an invoice provided. Please note that I am not VAT registered.
Short film support
Accessing meaningful, experienced support as an emerging filmmaker can be a real challenge. To help, I offer free script and packaging feedback for shorts and student films. If you have found my input valuable, you are welcome to contribute any amount via my PayPal tip jar as a token of appreciation for my time.
